Our very own Megan Maiani wins award as Outstanding Young Leader of the Year from the Wyandotte Jaycees!
(February 2012) The Women of Wyandotte and the Wyandotte Jaycees decided to do the first every Woman of Wyandotte Gala this year. Twelve amazing women were nominated by their husbands, family members, friends, co-workers, and community members. We started out the week with an inspirational speaker who encouraged us to live life to the fullest and do not sweat the small stuff. She truly put into perspective why we were chosen to be nominated as outstanding women. We had so many treats along the way, a proclamation from the mayor, free manicures and hair do's for the big day, as well as a limo ride and a red carpet walk. When it was time for the awards, I was chosen as the Outstanding Young Leader of the Year from the Wyandotte Jaycees. This award is given out to a young leader between the ages of 18 and 40 who display qualities that it takes to become a leader and for outstanding commitment to serving their community. I was nominated by the President of the Wyandotte Jaycees, Jon Dehering. Jon nominated me for my active work in the Relay for Life, in which I co-chaired with him, Camp Quality, For a Day Foundation, and many other organizations. He highlighted these organizations because my passion and goals are set to go into pediatric oncology. If it were not for all the support from amazing people who pulled me into these organizations I would not be where I am today. I would like to thank Esther and everyone in the For a Day Foundation for always believing in me and supporting me from the very first event I helped out at (the fashion show selling tiaras with Esther three years ago). We do this because we love to help others and because someone in our life inspired us to give back what has been given to us. Hopefully, we can inspire someone else to give up something to help make their community a place they love to call home!

Levels of Discovery Announces Partnership with Queen for a Day
Deerfield, IL (Jan 2006) -- Levels of Discovery, a Chicago based children's furniture and decorative accessories manufacturer, is pleased to announce its recent partnership with Queen for a Day, a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise the self-esteem and self-confidence of children with cancer.

Headquartered in Mississippi, Queen for a Day was founded in 2000 by Jenna Edwards, a former pageant winner and University of Miami graduate. To date, there are 33 local Queen for a Day chapters in 23 states. Each local chapter hosts "Queen for A Day" and "Hero" parties at area pediatric cancer facilities. Current and former pageant winners, along with other volunteers, pamper little girls with their very own tiara, manicures and feather boas. Little boys receive firefighter-themed play kits and are honored to spend time with real local "heroes" - firefighters and police officers.
Levels of Discovery will be donating the ever-popular "Princess", "Firemen" and "Police" rockers to Queen for a Day chapters across the country. The beautiful rockers are the special seating at these parties for girls and boys to have their pictures taken - in full "royal" and "hero" attire.
"At Levels of Discovery, we're all about kids and our mission is to bring creativity, fun and joy to children through our unique and FUNctional furniture pieces," says Jeff Hutsell, CEO and owner of Levels of Discovery. "We believe that every child deserves a little something extra, and Queen for a Day is a perfect fit. We are thrilled to partner with an organization that shares our desire to bring happiness to children and we are looking forward to an exciting year!"
Levels of Discovery has been recognized for their furniture designs with the Juvenile Product Manufacturer Association's Innovation Award and iParenting's Media Award.
